Matt Bailey

As a musician, Matt has been practicing, performing and teaching the trumpet for fifteen years and has been the recipient of many awards, bursaries and performance opportunities, including the Geoffrey Bailey Memorial Award, Casual member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and is a performing member of Ars Musica Australis. Matt completed his Bachelor of Music Performance in 2006 with High Distinction from the Victorian College of the Arts. In 2009, Matt has had the opportunity to perform under the baton of such conductors including Richard Gill, Oleg Caetani and Brett Kelly as he furthers his education and performing experience in orchestral studies and operatic orchestras. Recently accepted through to second round in the audition process for the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Principal Trumpet position, Matt will also be attending the Australian International Summer Orchestral Institute on Scholarship in 2009. Currently, as well as maintaining a regular freelance performance life around Australia and teaching in Melbourne, he also enjoys composing and cycling.
